Louisburg Federal Prison

The video on Louisburg Federal Prison was disturbing to watch but it opened my eyes to an atmosphere that I have no knowledge of, and that of which I plan to not experience first hand. I realized throughout the video how horrid life would be to stay in prison. I watched what kind of activities partake in a prison, when a prisoner first arrives at Louisburg to the duties they are involved in while they are there, and what happens when they are able to leave. Doing time in a federal prison is no joke, and the people that are in there are criminals. .
Louisburg Federal Prison was built in 1932. The French influence the style; however, it is more of a modern style. The inmates call it the "Big House." Many of the United States" well-known criminals were held at Louisburg such as, Al Capone, and Jimmy Halpa. Louisburg holds more than one thousand inmates including those of the mafia, cartel, spies, kidnappers, rapist, and murderers. Statistics show that thirty-five percent are white, twenty percent are Hispanic, and twenty-five are black. It doesn't matter what race you are, Louisburg has it and every single one of them have performed a criminal act. It isn't just Louisburg either. The entire United States imprisons more people than any other country. Next to us is South Africa and then Russia. In the thirties (when Louisburg was built), scientist claimed that by the nineties there would be about one million people imprisoned. By the twenty first century, we are up to two million inmates in the United States. I feel that it is ridiculous. Two million of our fellow citizens are in prison what was there motive. In 1790 the first penitentiary was built to reform prisoners. It was more or less like a rehab, but then they discovered that prison was not a rehabilitation center, and that sending people there would not necessarily cure them. Prison life in general is a nightmare, and I feel that if a person has committed a crime out of his own will then he should deal with the consequence even if it is a life sentence.
