Opportunities are like sunrises. If you wait, you miss them

We usually don't have many opportunities in our life. That's why if we find them, we shouldn't miss them.
I absolutely agree with W. A. Ward's quotation that "Opportunities are like sunrises. If you wait too long, you miss them". In my view we should treat opportunities like sunrises, which are very beautiful but last only for a while. So if we want to watch the sunrise early in the morning, we should be very careful to catch the moment or otherwise we"ll miss it. In the same way we can miss some golden opportunity which can be of vital importance for our life. But the main difference here is that the sun rises every day, while people stand a chance of seizing opportunity very rarely. That's why if we find them, we should catch them immediately. But if we wait too long, we miss them.
For example several years ago my father was offered a very good job. He was faced with a dilemma, because he wasn't sure whether to accept this offer or to stay at his current job. My father reflected on the advantages and disadvantages of this offer very long. As a result the people, who had offered him the job, lost patience and employed someone else. Since then my father has been very sorry, because if he hadn't missed such golden opportunity, he could have earned a lot of money.
More often that not I can also exemplify Ward's quotation. For instance, when some teacher asks a question, I usually know the answer but don't raise my hand, because I"m afraid of making a mistake. So while I wonder whether to answer, someone leaves me behind and I miss my opportunity to get a good mark.
To sum up, people shouldn't miss their opportunities, because they will be very sorry one day like I've been many times. .
