Butch Cassidy and the Sun Dance kid

The movie Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid is about two robbers running from the law. Butch Cassidy, played by Paul Newman, and the Sundance Kid, played by Redford, teamed up with a few others to create the ultimate outlaw gang. The two bandits went from town to town robbing various banks and money trains. Until the local law got the best know sheriffs from different cities to track them down. Eventually Butch and the Sundance Kid got caught in Bolivia, and it all came to an end. In my opinion the movie promotes and also refutes all the "Western Myths".
The movie promotes the western myths in many different ways. The most obvious western myth is the gunfights. In the west gunfights were as common as arguments now, if there was a problem one settled it with a shooting fight. Butch and the Sundance Kid get in the ultimate gunfight in Bolivia. They took on around twenty times the men, and still made a huge impact on them. Sundance Kid also played cards in an old saloon, which was a typical game that was played back then. One of the biggest transportation was the wagon. When Butch and the Sundance Kid decided they aught to leave town, they left in a covered wagon pulled by a horse. One of the biggest western myths was the gold rush. People from all over the country came to the west to try and become rich. This is why both Butch and the Sundance Kid came to the west and eventually met. In this movie the weather is always dry, hot, and sunny. This is a typical weather atmosphere of the western myths. Even though there are quite a few things that promote the western myth there are some that refute it.
In my opinion when there was a problem in the west they settle it man to man. But when Butch and the Sundance Kid were shot in Bolivia the army that they brought was ridiculous. They came with hundreds of soldiers to get the two of them. Also in the old west, the outlaws always out run and outsmarted the law.
