When I graduated from high school, my dream was to become a businesswoman. I majored first in marketing. Thinking that I would not be good in sales, I changed my major to business management. I never realized that whatever you do in life, one must be able to sell him or herself. I didn't realize that part of management was marketing. I took just as many marketing classes as I did management classes. Sometimes I look back and see I missed an opportunity.
I had to work to pay my way to college. God blessed me with a job that provided tuition reimbursement. Therefore, I transferred from Sam Houston State in Huntsville to the University of Houston Downtown. Upon the completion of my degree, I was still employed with Chase Bank. This afforded me various opportunities.
When I realized the benefits Chase had to offered, my first position was a file clerk in the trust department. First of all, I knew from the beginning that this was just a position to get my foot in the door. I did not picture myself being a file clerk very long. I had set my dreams of being that businesswoman. After three months of filing, I was promoted to the position of a pledge clerk. I held millions of dollars as collateral for various governmental entities. I was later promoted to handling calls and put features on stocks and bonds. After excelling at that position, I became a research analyst for the department.
