             One of the earliest known and found literary works is The Epic of Gilgamesh. The worlds first epic that deals with death or after life. An epic is a long narrative poem or poetry in lofty style the achievements and adventures of a hero. When we think of the Epic of Gilgamesh its more on the heroic character or style. The typical theme of everlasting life are the main central values of the Epic of Gilgamesh. The symbol of Gilgamesh was half man and half god (2-rds man and 1-rds god). Gilgamesh had the ability to gain immortality as a result of the death of his friend Enkidu. Gilgamesh displayed beauty, strength, knowledge, courage, determination, will and the ability to display many more characteristics. Western religious thoughts were influenced strongly by the herbraic emphasis on ethical monotheism. On the other hand the priest-kings acted as agents of one or another of the gods to there people. The people of Mesopotamians had belief that their was activity in there afterlives and so they tries in anyway to have knowledge of it. On the other hand Gilgamesh wanted everlasting life. Gilgamesh seeks to control his life span and understand how mankind works and the meaning of death because he is not immortal. Lyre from Uruk symbolizes to me a since of equality . It's the picture of Gilgamesh between two human-headed .
             bulls. The sum of the Epic of Gilgamesh is the pursuit of everlasting life (immortality). .
