One's attachment to school depends on how one appreciates the instiution and how they are received by fellow peers and teachers. Hirschi also noted that he found that one's attachment to parents and school overshadows the bond formed with one's peers. .
             The second bond is commitment and it involves time, energy, and effort put forth in partaking in social activities tie an individual to the moral and ethical code of society. Hirschi's control theory holds that people who build an investment in life, property, and reputation are less likely to engage in criminal acts which will jeopardize their social position. A lack of commitment to such conventional values will cause an individual to partake in delinquent to criminal acts. .
             The third bond is involvement. Hirschi basically argues that an individuals involvement in positive activities doesn't leave time to commit delinquent or criminal acts. Involvement in school, family, recreation, and religion preoccupies the youth from engaging in delinquent or criminal acts. .
             The final bond is that of belief and it deals with a connection to society's value system and respect for laws, and the people and institutions which enforce such laws. Hirschi argued that people who live in common social setting share similar human values. If a youth disagrees or does not believe in these values one is more likely to engage in antisocial acts. Also, if the youth believe that laws are unfair, this bond to society weakens and the likelihood of committing delinquency becomes stronger. .
             The direct relationships a child has with concrete social elements, like his family and friends, are likely to give some intimation of his involvement in crime. Family structure have a crucial impact on socialization, developing self concept, and personality characteristics. Families are a primary agent of socialization and can be considered a direct cause of juvenile delinquency.
