Bend It Like Beckam


            Football often compared to Cricket was Jess's father's favorite sport until he tried to play with the English. The English started racist comments to him and were making fun of his turban. He said "our boys are still not allowed to play with the English". This was only one reason why he accepted his daughter playing football.
             Jess is a normal teenager who loves to play football on her free time. The only problem is that she is that she is Indian. Her parents are against her playing the game in the first part of the movie because they want her to be a normal stay at home mom who cooks and cleans. Her dad was a cold hearted guy, he said "your mom is right you need to learn how to cook and clean". But she didn't listen to that and kept playing. .
             Her father through the movie started letting her make her own decisions in wanting to play football. She was sneaking out of the house to play the game and showed up at one of her games and watched her play. He saw how good that she was and saw that she could be successful playing it. But after the game he walks out and sees her hugging Joe her football coach. This is against the culture and kind of caught him off guard and I think that his mind a little bit about letting her plan soccer with the English. .
             She kept sneaking out even when her dad didn't allow her too. She snuck off the Hamburg, Germany where her team played. She told her parents that she went to her aunt's house to visit. Her dad read the newspaper and that she was playing in the tournament. This lead them to not trust her and made her quit playing football. .
             Her team made it to the playoffs, but her parents put her sisters wedding date on the day of the playoffs and on the day that the scouts were finally going to be there to watch her play. When the wedding came they still would not let her go to the game, until half way through when her dad said "in that is the only thing that is going to make you happy on your sisters wedding day then go play.
