Attraction or Distraction?


            How does it happen, when do the feelings begin and where do they come from in the first place? I"m speaking of a desire to touch another person, to feel the closeness and caress even before we know what sex is all about. What makes our heart beat so fast when we look in the eyes of a stranger who holds that look a bit longer than normal? What makes a person take the risk of touching another person? That will remain a mystery but, desires come in all types, without explanations to go with them, as we all know.
             In our rapidly changing world, people are no strangers to faking. At a time when we fake our hair color, cup size and we even fake fur, I couldn't help it to wonder: Has fear of being alone suddenly raised the bar on faking? Are we faking orgasms only or are we faking entire relationships? All in all, is it better to fake it than to be alone?.
             In the system of our shared beliefs, "opposites attract each other", as some say. However, not having enough time and energy to develop committed relationships, most of us do try to grab the intimate and affectionate moments with someone based on attraction.
             People's fear of giving-in too easily became actually a virtue by today. It was never more important than now to look good, to feel good and to attract. The multi-million dollar beauty companies (like LANCOME, ESTEE LAUDER, SHISEIDO etc.) are trying to keep up with the modern "running-and-rushing-lifestyle" where the factors of seductiveness are more than just beauty.
             Being energetic, sexy, passionate and independent are the main essentials of the advertisements for most products.
             Perfumes often go more into depths than just using only the mentioned factors of the dominant ideology. In the new LANCOME perfume ad, called "ATTRACTION," sexuality and passion express the yearning, the attraction of the modern and beautiful women. .
             To underline this statement, the photographer decided to lower the lights on the picture and to show the sexual tension between a young and attractive naked male and female.
