Dress Code

It is a Monday morning, as a student enters into high school and the clothes on his back are the farthest thing from his mind. A test in first period and the girl he is crushing on in second, which as of now is much more important than clothing. A principal calls him over to tell him of his lunch detention for a dress code violation. Once he gets into class more time is spent on telling other students of their infractions and punishments. This is what would happen at my high school on a daily basis. Not only would the dress code take time each day away from learning, but it also would deprive students of their want to express them in that manner. And the dress code compliance was very unfair since it would be based on who or what a student looked like.
In every class, a teacher takes time away from the studies to check students for their dress code compliance. In one day for all four of a students classes about thirty minutes is gone to waste from checking the students. In a year that amount of wasted time can sum up to a great amount that had it been used for school work much more could have been learned on the students behalf. To some students, having time wasted on other things then learning might be a blessing but since all teenagers are forced to go to school to learn then the time the students are forced to be their should be on what they are there for. If a student is in to great of a violation say for backless shoes, which was a huge deal at my .

This consequence could force their grade to drop and maybe even hurt them in the long run to and if their parent has to leave work then the effect could hurt the whole family, all because of backless shoes.
