Chapter Eight Response Journal

So far, Ralph, Jack and Roger saw the beast and scattered back to the group telling what they have just encountered. I found it funny when Jack, who first went up to the mountain and saw the beast, was horrified, explaining to Ralph and Roger what he had seen. Deep down, Jack is still just a child, who seems isn't afraid and cares about anything or anyone and wanted things to go his way, except for power, hunting, and killing. However, he has this brutality that a child shouldn't have and violent urges that will soon be taking on someone or something. At this point, Jack had run away, crying and feeling humiliated, prepared to survive on his own. But he pulled himself together, when his group of choir boys decided to come back to him, and became a chief among them, back to hunting and killing. .
Piggy, who is probably delighted to see Jack and his hunters leaving the group, thinking all he's troubles are all gone, can participate in group decision without afraid of Jack's glares. Despite with he's intelligence, he didn't not think that this could result an upcoming big, violent conflict. .
Now Simon, he is an odd kid, he is kind to all younger kids and is willing to work to get rescued. However, while Ralph and the others, even Jack, are so terrified of the beasties, staying away from the beastie's dwelling, yet he visited it. He's was not frightened by the impaled pig head yet found it fascinating. I wonder if he has anything to do with the beasties later since he's having so much contacts with the beasties.
Questions rose while I was reading the part about the apparition of "Lord of the Flies". What does the "Lord of the Flies" mean in this story, what does it represent? Was Simon hallucinating when he was talking to the pig?! What did he fainted? What made him put his head into the rotting pig's mouth? Also, is Jack turning into some sort of bloodthirsty savage?! Then why would Jack take so much pleasure in covering his hands with blood? .
