Have you ever heard of a man named Steve Nash? He's a Canadian basketball player who plays for the Dallas Mavericks and Team Canada. Nash was born in South America but he was raised in British Columbia. He learned to play basketball out west and developed many other skills as well. Nash has always had a strong work ethic, even when he was young. He's kind and never takes his success for granted. Steve Nash is a hero and is the kind of man that you would want your kids to admire. When I grow up I want to be like Steve Nash because he's a famous basketball player, he's a generous man, and he's a role model for young Canadians.
Steve Nash is a famous sports star in the NBA. I have always wanted to play professional basketball, just like Nash wanted to. Trying to make it as a basketball player in Canada is really hard. Long winters make it hard to find time to play so you have to put in that extra effort to find time to play and practice. Nash's effort and desire to play in the NBA inspired me to work hard, knowing that another Canadian who is in my position could be so successful. I want to have determination like Nash does, "One day, he would assign 500 jump shots to be made before he would allow himself to leave court. The next day, it would be 200 free throws. Steve made a schedule and he stuck with it, refusing to go home until his job was complete"(Rud, Pg.56). Nash is known around the NBA for his hard work ethic and commitment to his team. Nash has respect, but another great thing that he has is money. Everyone knows that NBA players receive multi-million dollar contracts for playing basketball. Being paid for playing a sport you love is a marvelous thing to have. I wish I could have the respect, talent and money that Steve Nash has. Nash is the kind of hard working man that I would like to be like when I grow up.
