Bob Marley

Robert Nesta Marley was born on February 6, 1945 in St. He died on May 11th, 1981 at the age of 36 of cancer that had started in his toe and spread through his body. His funeral was on May 21st and hundreds of thousand of people attended, including Jamaica's Prime minister.
He valued his Rastafarian beliefs, which influenced his every day life. In Rastafarianism the eating of alcohol, tobacco, all meat (especially pork), as well as shellfish, scale less fish, and snails was shunned. He wanted to stop violence. Many saw him as a political figure. Some so much so that an assassination attempt was made on him because someone thought him singing would swing the election to one side.
At the age of 16 Bob wrote his first song titled "Judge Not" which didn't do well. Bob has sung and written many songs such as "I Shot the Sheriff", "Jammin", and "No Woman No Cry". He has started two recording labels both of which failed. Most of his career has been with a band called The Wailers, which he had started with Bunny Livingstone (later known as Bunny Wailer) and Peter McIntosh (later known as Peter Tosh). The Wailers were the first reggae band to get a record deal worth 8000 pounds and access to the best recording studios. After a while Bunny and Peter left the band to pursue solo careers and were replaced by new members.
Bob's music was his life and his life was in his music it was composed of his views and his experiences. He did every thing he could to make music and he lived the way he wanted. He changed the music industry by making reggae more popular while still getting his message across. He changed his audience's views on life and gave them musical enjoyment even if they didn't really listen to the lyrics.
In my opinion Bob's contribution to industrialization was fairly big but in his case he slowed it down because he influenced people to not be materialistic. He did this through his singing.
