A survey was conducted to find out about what life was like for baby boomers when they were in high school. This survey focused on their influences and views at that time in their lives. .
It was interesting to see the results when comparing the responses of both the male and female participants. Only one male participant out of five was encouraged to continue their education after high school compared to three out of five women. The results were tied when the participants were asked if upon finishing high school, did they think it was possible to earn enough money to live comfortably without going to college or university. 20% said yes, 60% said somewhat, and 20% said never. None of the participants" thought it was possible to earn enough money to live comfortably in today's society and 70% (40% female and 30% male) said it is never possible. When asked if they had a part-time job while in high school all the male participants said they always did, compared to two women. Fashion played a large role periodically throughout high school for all five males while the women's results were scattered. .
The male participants seemed to be more indecisive than the women. For those questions where the answer was yes, somewhat or never the males quickly ticked off somewhat for most answers while the women seemed more decisive with straightforward yes or never answers. For a total of four questions all the male participants answered the same but the females answers tended to be more scattered. It was interesting to see that all five male participants have somewhat been experiencing loss of job security in the past decade compared to three women and two women who are definitely experiencing this. .
In conclusion, this survey was successful in gathering information on what life was like for baby boomers when they were teenagers in high school.
