The Second Treatise of Civil Government

The Second Treatise of Civil Government.
Basically this reading is talking about the need for Governments to basically help us rule our lives and to tell you the truth I believe it. All throughout the age's man has constantly been told what to do and how to do it, from Monarch's, Dictator's, President's, even small tribes have a small form of government. We need these governments in order to go on with our daily lives, without it they would be anarchy. To tell you the truth, I believe that government figures only have as much power as you give them, the more power that they have the more power that they can have to rule or govern us with. I also believe in the saying that "Absolute power corrupts absolutely" Taking this to modern times, some people could say that President Bush has been corrupted by his power, he nearly went and started a war with Iraq without the help of the UN forces, which I would believe would have been a bad move for his career. We promote people to governments to make sure that our life, liberty, and property are well protected, that's the way it should be. The same could be said for the right to remove people from governments should we be unsatisfied with their performance. These government figures are there to help us with our daily lives. Not like it was way back when where they used to look out for number one and left the rest of the people out to dry. Although it has been done numerous times throughout history, with powerful groups such as The Catholic Church. I truly believe that Mankind needs someone to govern them because plan and simple they cannot govern themselves. It would cause chaos and anarchy would reign in the streets. All through history mankind has proven one way or another that they need to be governed by someone. While this is true I believe that the person that has the power should have it limited so that they don't get too comfortable in their position and start to corrupt themselves.
