How to put on Fire GearIntroduction:.
How many of you guys think you can put this on in 2 ½ minutes?? Well you're probably thinking yeah it looks easy, of course I could do it. Well guess what until you have done it a lot of times you won't be able to. This gear weighs about 20 to 25 lbs. Then when you are in what they consider full turnout gear, you have another 20 some lbs. So altogether you have any where from 40 to 50 extra lbs. Think you can run into a burning building?.

Before I tell you what you have to do to put on all this gear, who wants to try and put this on without instructions?.
Okay so now you've saw _____ try and do it. .
So first your pants and boots should pulled down how they are so you can quickly take off your shoes and jump in them, because if there is a fire somewhere you don't want to take 30 minutes to get it all on, because by then whatever was on fire is completely in flames and there won't be anything you can save. Okay so after you have your feet in the boots pull the suspenders up and fasten the buttons and hook the little hook at the top of the pants. After fastening your pants you should then grab your jacket put it on but don't fasten it up yet. Get your nomex and put it on over your head, after that then fasten all the parts to your jacket. Unless your going into a burning building we don't put the air tanks and mask so I won't go into all that. After your nomex is up put your helmet on and make sure that it is as tight as you can get it. Then put on the gloves.
So now you know if you ever decide to become a firefighter you will get the picture of how to do it. It is really easy once you get to know how to do it, but the first few times its kinda hard.
