How far away can bugs in every house be? Or monitored speech? Sure, even as I write it I feel like one of those conspiracy theory nuts, but then again, a few years back no one would have believed that what is happening today would be fathomable. And yet here we are! .
Next up we have the case of freedom of speech, or lack there of. Sure, people are not yet being placed in jail for speaking there mind not yet! But the law is not only giving those who have suffered due to speaking their mind a blind eye, but have congratulated those who plague them. An example, a beloved band of three young girls perform a concert, before their song about a soldier they explain that the song is not about soldiers in the war, because they do not support the war and are disappointed that Bush hailed from their town, but they support him in his decisions and support the troops 100%. A British journalist attends said concert and in true paparazzi fashion only reports half of this sentence, and suddenly these three innocent little girls have been vilified. If it was just their career that had been damaged this would have been understandable (absurd, but understandable), I mean after all the same thing happened to John Lennon. However, these poor girls received death threats, as have their families (who have nothing to do with their beliefs) and no one is doing a thing to help them, or even give them pity. Why is this so scary? I mean things like this happen all the time to celebrities do they not? Sure, for burning pictures of the pope, disrespecting other peoples religions or cultures, being crass or crude. But to boycott a band because they stand up against the government? That's a new one (not new for China, Italy or Germany in the past) but definitely new in this day and age, new and horrible. Then there are people who have been fired across America, for having concerns about the war, the president and/or the government.
