Silver Blaze


            The story around silver blaze is about a horse that is well known and very famous and is the fastest known is stolen by somebody who gets murdered. The horse gets found and then placed in a stable and hidden by an anonymous person. Sherlock Holmes was called in by the colonel to investigate the case with the missing horse and also to find the murderer of John Straker. The crime took place in the town of Dartmoor in 1972.
             The typical ingredients to a detective story are a mysterious and unexplainable crime (usually a murder) with a victim and then a reason why the crime took place (a motive). Mysteries are also made up of many possible suspects and usually takes time to find the clues in many places to find out the case.
             Silas Brown and Fitzroy Simpson are made to seem guilty. Silvas Brown seems guilty because he bets all his money on the second best horse knowing that Silver Blaze would not take place in the race. His tracks were also found by the horse tracks down the moor. His feet were identical because squared off shaped toes which corresponded to the tracks found. He had was first up at the capleton stables. Fitzroy Simpson seems guilty because his clothes were wet the time after the horse went missing, he carried a penning lawyer stitch that could have been used by the maid and the stable boy. He had his head through the window that night maybe to examine the place and he had a motive for the crime.
             Conan Doyle presents Sherlock Holmes as a detective by saying he is very intelligent and eager to do his job well. This shows us that he is up for anything and that he wont stop for anything. He likes to keep track of time so he knows what happened when. He rarely makes a blunder but when he does it seems to help him in his detective work. He tries to recreate the scene of the crime so that he can work out what happens and what the criminal could have possibly done. He likes to study the surroundings and never misses out a small detail that could be crucial to the investigation.
