Compare and Contrast John Woolman's and Jonathan Edwards

It is true in saying that no two individuals try to understand God in the same way. Some men understand God as being wrathful, angry, and unloving. Others take Him for granted. Even though there are many religions that various groups of people believe in, most have a sense of God and know who He is. Even a Quaker and a Puritan both have a sense of God. .
John Woolman has the fear of the Lord in him. He writes in a journal, and records what he has done and whatever else he wants to record in it. One night he was sleeping, and he awoke in an unusual hour. He opened his eyes and saw a brightness about his room, about nine inches in diameter. He didn't know what it was at first, but then something spoke to him in his inward ear that touched his whole inward. The words that were spoken to him were "Certain Evidence of Divine Truth". They were repeated once more, then the light disappeared. .
Woolman had the Holy Spirit in him. He was fearful of God and was in awe of his mercy. He viewed God as a merciful, divine, and just God. His heart was contrite before he had fallen asleep that night, and he was aware of God's mercy. .
Jonathan Edwards is a preacher who gets his point across very quickly in his sermon he preached in Northampton, Massachusetts. His beliefs are strong and dignified. He understands God to be wrathful and angry with man, and the only reason we are all not in hell at this very moment is purely based on the pleasure of God. He believes that unconverted men are in danger every day of going to hell, and they don't even notice that they are doing anything wrong. God could send them to hell anytime he wishes, He is strongly provoked into sending them to hell, but doesn't send them to hell based on what pleases him. .
Edwards believes that anyone who has not had a great change of heart, and has been born again or made into a new creature without sin and without death is in the hands of an angry God.
