Clockwork Orange


His are very meek; they seem to be frightened of their son and let him bully them. They are frightened of knowing too much about their son's activities. They don't bother to ask where their son has been all night long, and assume he was working. In one incident his mother asks Alex why he's not going to school and he replies he has to rest so he can be good tomorrow. .
             Family values and morals or lack of this affects children who witness this. Children whose needs for a loving and stable environment are not met, have a risk for lack of attachment and empathy for others. Children from unloving and callous homes do not learn appropriate ways of dealing with conflict, people or society itself. The way Alex is raised, it influences he character and morals. He thinks that it's okay, that's its appropriate for him to stay up all night, doing malice crimes and come home and censured. Because at the end of the day he knows he not going to get in trouble. .
             Throughout the movie Alex commits copious of detailed crimes. He beats the elderly, fights other gangs, rapes girls. He sips milk full of drugs, and listens to Beethoven while in the midst of raping a young girl. He assaults a woman, inflicting mortal wounds and who eventually dies. And he is betrayed by his droogs and is sent to prison.
             Alex does all of these events without feeling guilty is a mixture of good and evil possibilities with evil taking the upper hand. Even though he doesn't show his good side, he still has one. He likes the good of classical music even if he associated it with the evils of violence. Alex lacks a moral sense of obligation in which makes him "bang straight into things" as he put it. Alex does evil because he likes it just as some people do good because they like it. According to Alex, what causes good or evil is desire. There is no sense of moral obligation or the possibility of moral guilt hovering over Alex when he chooses evil.
