Biography on Nicholas Sparks


            Nicholas Charles Sparks was born in Omaha, Nebraska on December 31, 1965. His parents are Patrick and Jill Sparks but they both passed away. Sparks has two siblings Michael and Danielle. Danielle passed away due to cancer. When Sparks was a child he lived in Minnesota, Los Angeles, and Nebraska. He was eight his family settled in Fair Oaks, California. Patrick was a professor and Jill was homemaker and later became an optometrist assistant. Sparks lived in Fair Oaks through high school and graduated as valedictorian in 1984. He received a full track scholarship to the University of Norte Dame. .
             While attending Notre Dame he was injured but broke a track record on the relay team in 1985 as a freshman. This recorded still has not been broke since Sparks was there. Since Sparks was injured he spent the summer writing a novel that was not published. Then in 1988 he graduated from Notre Dame in high honors and majoring in Business and finance. .
             In spring break of 1988 he met Catherine and they were married July 1989. They lived in Sacramento at this time. There he wrote his second novel but it was not published either. When living in Sacramento Sparks had many different jobs in the next three years and they included real estate appraisal, waiting tables, selling dental products by phones and started his own business. Sparks has five children Miles, Ryan, Landon, Lexie, and Savannah. Sparks, his wife, and children all live in North Carolina.
             In 1992, he moved from Sacramento to North Carolina. When Sparks was 28 he wrote The Notebook. In the next couple of years he wrote many different books. They are Message in a Bottle (1998), A Walk to Remember (1999), The Rescue (2000), and A Bend in the Road (2002). All of these books were with Warner Books. These books also were translated into more than 35 different languages and were domestic and international sellers. In 1999, Message in a Bottle was made into a movie also in 2002; A Walk to Remember was made into a movie.
