Napoleon

The French Revolution was an empowering age of turmoil and victory for the people of France. They stood up for themselves, their rights and what they believed in. It was a fight for all men to be equal. Their beliefs of liberty, equality and fraternity were finally won at the end of the revolution. But chaos would soon take over their new free world. The National Assembly was disbanded and the Legislative Assembly is formed. Unfortunately, no members of the former National Assembly could serve, so all of the House Legislature's members were inexperienced, and radical and corrupt. Just when it seems the ideals of the French people must be lost, Napoleon steps in. A great warrior and leader known as "the general- for beings one of the best generals in history became the "hero of the hour- while helping the Revolutionaries fight back against the nobles during the Revolution. Napoleon holds true to the heart of the reconstructed France while leading it to economical, political and spiritual success.
One of the main causes of the French Revolution was taxation. Before the Revolution the 1st estate, or the clergy paid only 2% of their income in taxes and the 2nd estate, or nobility paid almost no taxes. So who is supporting the government? The third estate, or everyone else, paid 50% of their income in taxes although they were the least wealthy estate. When Napoleon came to power as the 1st consul, he greatly changed France's damaged economy. Napoleon set fairer tax laws that involved the 1st and 2nd estates paying more and the 3rd estate paying less. He also set up a much more efficient system for collecting taxes. Another important thing Napoleon did for the economy was establish a national bank, which centralized the economy. He also gave state loans to businesses. Napoleon's actions promoted a solid, efficient system of financial management, and better controlled the flow of currency in France.
