Pete Hautman

The book that I chose to do my final on was the book "Ragman". It was written by Peter Hautman and Copyrighted by Simon and Schuster published it recently in 2001. The theme of this book is how people change into things that they don't want to be, with out even noticing it. People affect you in different ways and you have no control over it sometimes because your sub conscience doesn't realize it. "Ragman" is a frank novel about how one individual person can affect many others just by one simple action of leaving.
This book was a good quality novel about a normal businessman getting turned into an undignified liar that illegally. Trying to get a company on its feet and making new relationships along the way. The excitement starts when he realizes that most of the people working for him are really working against him and his wife. In the beginning, Mack MacWray and his wife are the usual loving and adoring couple that have been married for ten years. How long will it take for his wife Paula to realize that Mack is not the simple loving man that she married? Or will she appreciate the fact that Mack is finally getting a backbone. .
For Mack, it all started when he meet Lars Larson. Lars makes a couple insinuations on how easy it is to start a clothing business and make money by the point of one or two months. Mack did not really think twice about it and agreed to go into this business with Lars, sharing the profits with him sixty-forty so that Mack had the main position in the company. Things went great and the money was really rolling in, until Mack found orders that he hadn't heard about and finding check stubs that were signed under Lars's writing. A few days after Lars stopped showing up for work, along with Rita Monbeck the secretary, a police officer, Jerry Pleasant showed up at Mac-Lar with some disturbing news for Mack. Pleasant shared the news that he had been looking for this guy for a long time.
