            Eric was born in Surrey, England on March 30th, 1945. He was born in his grandpas house and he grew up thinking that his garndapa was his dad and his grandmother was his mom and his mom was his sister. When he was finally told he and his mom still acted as if they were brother and sister. .
             Eric started guitar at the age of 15. He went to collage at Kingston College of Art for stained-glass and was expelled at age 17 for playing guitar in class and refused to stop. After that he worked manual labor and in his freetime played in a bunch of brittish bands. He would constanly have to fix guitar srings in gigs because he was so hard on them. Which gave him the nickname slowhand cause when he canged strings everyone clapped real slowly. Then he started a band called Cream in 1966, with bassest Jack Bruce and drummer Ginger Baker.

             Eric became the first person to ever be in the rock and roll hall of fame. His last entry was for a solo artist on March 6 2000. His first was with the band Yardbirds in 1992 and the second was with Cream in 1993. .

             Clapton married and divorsed Pattie Boyd Harrison. He has a daughter named Ruth Kelly Clapton born in Jan. 11th 1985 and Julie Rose Clapton born 6/15/2001. He had a son named Conor whose mom was an Italian model named Lori Del Santo. His son fell 49 stories to his death at their apartment and right before that three of his close best freinds died in a helocopter crash. So he wrote a song in tribute to his son called "Tears in Heaven." That song won a grammy in 1992.
             Eric Clapton left Cream after 30 months and joined a band called Blind Faith. Wich had Clapton, Ginger Baker, ex-Family bassist Rick Grech and ex-Traffic keyboardist Steve Winwood. They had a free concert in London's Hyde Park in June 1969 playing to over 100,000 fans. Then he went on a tour with John Lennon for charity.
             Eric Clapton has recived seventeen grammys. The box set "cross roads" recived two grammys.
