Lascaux Paintings

The Lascaux Cave Paintings show the amazing life of our ancestors. The social values that are reflected remind us how important the hunt was to early man. How their life revolved around the animals that they needed to survive on. Not only was it food to thrive on, but it was also an instinct that we still have today. Men will always be hunters in one way or another.
How magical and wondrous the animals must have been to them. So much so that it inspired them to make such elaborate paintings with intricate details. So realistic they even changed the dimensions of the animal's legs to show movement. It has even been said that the paintings could possibly hold some religious meaning.
The studies of these beautiful paintings are very important for the growth of our knowledge of the past. Without the past there is no future. How can you grow without knowing where you have been? The daily lives that are depicted in the scenes show that early man was a hunter and a survivalist, just as we still are to this day. This instinct is something we will and never should lose. We are fascinated with our surrounding environment and the life of the creatures in it. Animals always hold a mystical imagine in our minds. We even have Zoo's dedicated to show animals in their natural environment as close to real as we can. This could bring on another discussion whether this is humane or not, so I will end on that note.
