Michelle Williams is the second child born in Grand Bay, Alabama to Mr. Her family has lived in Grand Bay, Alabama since 1942. Her parents currently reside in the area. She has been a role model in her community because of her activism and positive relations with religious and political figures.
She was educated in private schools in Grand Bay, Alabama, despite the racial injustice that was going on at the time. She was always a valued student and became a symbol in her community for excellence. She received a scholarship from one of her wealthy white teachers and attended Tougaloo College in Tougaloo, Mississippi. She majored in psychology and political science and vowed to learn as much as she could to educate young black youth about the injustice of society.
In 1978, while at a convention given by the NAACP, she met an upcoming political activist and football player, Stephen Williams. The two became close friends while traveling the country speaking about racial injustice and educating the youth. In the summer of 1983, the two were married in her home town.
Her employment and professional career embodies a wide variety of people, places, and ideas. From the red dirt roads of Grand Bay, to the board rooms of prominent companies nationwide, her voice has been heard. While in Grand Bay she was a kindergarten teacher at Mount Rose Elementary school, and a waitress at Greer's diner. In 1986 she was a national spokeswoman for the NAACP. She held the position for 6 years, and in 1992 decided to give up the position to take on one of the most exciting projects she has taken on to date. .
Because of her recognition of being a positive political activist, in 1995, the FBMX TV network allowed her to host a show called "Says Who?" The show is focused around community activists and individuals who are willing to openly express their views of what is going on in the world today while focusing on past political teachers and their writings.
