The police have a certain respect for Holmes and do not feel threatened or get angry about his higher intellect. They welcome him and any information he can give them or they can give him.
             Dr. Watson has been with Holmes for eight years and had about seventy cases with Holmes. The detective's faithful sidekick is always with him. He tries to deduct like Holmes but is not as good as the pro.
             He has a good record for the cases he does as a client comments "I've heard of you from Mrs. Farintosh, whom you helped in the hour of her sore need"(Doyle 157). So he has a reputation for being good at detective work. So good that people travel from across the country to seek his help. .
             Some Of Holmes strength as a detective is that he likes to have all the details before he makes his plans. A look before he leaps is an expression you could use for him. He proves this by saying, "There are a thousand details which I should desire to know before I decide upon our course of action"(Doyle 163). Her has a very collected train a thought and it is fine tuned to know exactly what is a goose chase and what is worth it just by listening for the right facts.
