Tadao ando - minimalistic designer

Tadao Ando - The Japanese architects influence on my work through his use of Materials, light and space.
             By neill Lyons.
It started with me pulling this guys name, whom I had never heard of before out of a hat in 1st year in my formative year at university. I still remember it; sitting there with my new class mates in anticipation of a unique way to start a project. The idea being that everyone was to pick a designer from a hat and to do some research on their given designer and report back to our tutor with the results. But this was the "I don't want to over exert year" so my commitment to the cause was to say the least, casual.
To be fair to myself though, my initial thoughts when delving into the psychic of the man Tadao Ando was I will return to Ando. Which I have done this year, not purposely, just by accident really.
One can't ignore the power in his thoughts and actions. To the uninformed and me initially he is minimalist designer who uses simple geometric shapes to form buildings influenced by a mix of modern architecture and traditional Japanese architecture. A more emotional objective thought on him is his use of materials he uses which include light, stillness, and space in addition to Concrete, glass and steel. His walls establish a human zone and counter the monotony of commercial architecture. On the exterior, the wall deflects the surrounding urban chaos, while on the interior it encloses a private space, personal to the resident. .
