Al capone


            Al Capone is America's best known gangster. Capone was known for his illegal activities that made Chicago known as a lawless city. He was born on January 17,1899 in Brooklyn, New York. Al Capone did well at school until the 6th grade, when he was 14 he got expelled for retaliating against a female teacher who hit him. When this happened, Capone's family made a choice to move to a different neighborhood. .
             Capone's first arrest was for a disorderly conduct charge when he was working for Yale. He also murdered two men while in New York. During his trial no one admitted hearing or seeing a thing so Capone was never tried for the murder. Capone then went to work for Yale's old mentor, John Torrio. John Torrio saw that Capone had a potential, he saw that he had a physical strength and intelligence. Soon Capone started to help Torrio mange his bootlegging business.
             Capone had a big spy network in Chicago, from newspaper boys to policemen, so when something happened Capone new instantly. Capone also was very skillful at killing his enemies when he saw they were becoming too powerful. A typical murder that Capone would set up would consist of men renting an apartment across the street from the victim's residence and they would shoot him when he got outside. Everything was done fast and to the point and Capone always had an alibi. .
             Capone's most notorious killing was the St. Valentine's Day Massacre. On February 14, 1929, Capone had four men enter a garage at 2122 N. Clark Street. The building was the headquarters of bootlegger George Moran's North side gang. Since two of Capone's men were dressed as police, the seven men in the garage thought that the police had invaded. So when they saw that there was police the men dropped their guns and put their hands against the wall. Capone's men used two shotguns and two machine guns, they shot more than 150 bullets into the victims. Six of the seven who were killed were members of Moran's gang.
