Less then three years after Jonathan Fitzgerald Kennedy gave his inaugural address in 1961, his presidency was cut violently short. On Friday, November 22nd 1963 at 12:30 P.M. the 35th President of the United States of America, John F. Kennedy was assassinated while he rode in an open limousine though Dealey plaza. Records show that he was shot by Lee Harvey Oswald from the sixth floor of a Texas school book depository. The news of JFK's assassination shocked the world. There is much controversy surrounding his murder, some believe that Lee Harvey Oswald was the lone gunman. However before he was put to trial Oswald was shot to death by local night club owner Jack Ruby, while being transferred from a state penitentiary to a county jail. Some believe that there was a conspiracy behind JFK's assassination, and that Jack Ruby was a part of it. And that in order to stop Lee Harvey Oswald from talking and exposing the conspiracy he was shot to death by Jack Ruby. The President's Commission on the Assassination of President Kennedy usually called the Warren Commission after its chairman Chief Justice Earl Warren, conducted hearings in 1964 on the assassination of President Kennedy. It issued its now-famous finding that Lee Harvey Oswald alone and unaided, killed President Kennedy. The critics of the Warren Commission claim there was a conspiracy to assassinate President Kennedy, a monster conspiracy that consists of several assassins, several accomplices. In the seventies, the critical literature started to look at the political undertones of a possible conspiracy (especially after Watergate) that ultimately led to a new investigation. That investigation, the House Select Committee on Assassinations (HSCA), emphasized the scientific side of the assassination and concluded that Lee Harvey Oswald had indeed fired and killed Kennedy. Conspiracy theorists often point to a memo written by Assistant Attorney General Nicholas Katzenbach three days after the assassination as a call for a top-level government cover-up of a conspiracy.
