The Truth

I think it was my mom that taught me the meaning of honesty. Not because she was honest but because she lied all the time. She thought that the easiest way out of a situation was the best way out. For her it was just telling a little white lie that wasn't really a big deal. When I was young I thought it was a cool way to get out of it too. When I would usually come to her with a question wondering what I should do, she wouldn't tell me but persuade me to lie.
For example one time my friend Brandon asked if i could come over every now and then, but I didn't want to I actually wanted to go to my other friend Chris's house. I went and told my mom and she would tell me to just tell him your sick then you can go over your other friends house. After I started doing that my friend Brannon found out one night when I was sleeping over and called and wondered why I was at his house. I got on the phone embarrassingly and told him that I was in the area which was really a lie. Now that this has happened I found out that it is worse to be caught in a lie then to tell the truth in the first place.
But now that I found out that lying is worse than telling the truth, everytime one of my friends I would tell them the truth (most of the time) and say that I was doing whatever I was going to do. Also, since then I have kept all my friends except one, which I wont go into because it has nothing to do with the story, from being truthful and not lying about doing something that I am not really going to do. .
Remember that telling the truth will help you in the long run and that lying will just get you down. .
