Discuss and explain the factors contributing to Napoleons rise to power.
There are many factors contributing to Napoleons rise to power from the very start of the Rebellion until he had complete control over the animals physically and mentally. His rise to power started as soon as Jones was kicked out of Manor Farm when Napoleon stole the cow's milk for himself and the other pigs.
Napoleon took away the dogs puppies and started to train them up in secret so that he could one-day kick out Snowball and have the farm to himself. He did this during a debate over whether the windmill should be built or not. Snowball was in the middle of his speech when Napoleons dogs chased him out of the farm never to come back, the farm was now easily taken over by Napoleon.
Napoleon cancelled the Sunday meetings so that there would be no more debates and everything would be done as he wants it, nobody could refuse this because he had physical power over everyone with his nine viscous dogs. Next he gained mental power over boxer who's motto was "Napoleon is always right", even when boxer knows in his mind that something is wrong he will immediately change his mind if Napoleon says its right.
Now that Napoleon has power over the frail animals with his dogs and mental power over the strong animals the farm is his for the taking. He makes himself president and has a huge public execution to scare anyone who is thinking of rebelling against him. With Squealer as his right hand man he can change the commandments and have Squealer explain to the animals how the commandments have always been like that and can also have Squealer talk the animals into anything.
By the end of the book Napoleon has become so greedy and has a lust for power so great that he changes all the commandments to suit him and walks on two legs with whips. He has broken every commandment and has taken up all human characteristics, which is what animalism was supposed to stop.
