From Ilium, the seas took us to Ismarus city of Cicones. Our captain order us to sacked that city and take all of its treasures. When we destroyed the whole city, we divided everything so everyone could have a fair share of the treasures. Our captain said that we had to escape before the Cicones re-group and returned to attack us. But we insisted of staying and drinking the wine and butchering the livestock. Ah, if only we had listen to our captain Odysseus! A well-trained army of the Cicones then surrounded us. The Cicones gained the upper hand and broke our rank. Six of our comrades lost their life that day. The rest of us were lucky to get away with our life. We acted like fools and should of listen to our wiser and more experienced captain. I still have nightmares of that day but I am grateful Odysseus got the rest of us out of there alive. .
We then left and came to the land of the Cyclopes, fierce, lawless people who have no assemblies or legal codes. Odysseus hungered for more adventures and our captain you see, got very curious and wanted to find out what kind of beings lived over there. We all knew something bad was going to happen so we warned and advised him not to go there. But he is so proud of himself and wanted to be received like a hero and sought after the gifts for himself and all the glory that he ignored us. He immediately endangered our life by forcing us to go and see one of these monsters. I was starting to get very furious and noticed a side of him I never seen before. He was starting to show no good leadership skills and was overconfident. He picked twelve of us to go with him to see who lived by the caves. Odysseus then made us all wait in the Cyclops' cave expecting that the beats would serve us all a feast and give gifts to him as was their due under the rules of hospitality. I was very scared and I told my captain that we had to leave that place because I had a feeling that something bad was going to happen.
