How Is Obesity Linked With Hypertension?

All over North America, we see countless fast-food restaurants. It seems that people's desire and effort to do things as simple as making a meal has diminished over time. Thus, resulting in Mc Donald's, Burger King, Wendy's and the list goes on. It is no wonder that our generation has become larger and more obese. High blood pressure or otherwise known as Hypertension can be linked to obesity. It has been estimated that for every extra kilogram of fat on a person, an additional kilometer of circulatory vessels is required to supply the tissues with nutrients therefore making the bodywork harder than it needs to. .
It once was thought that fat tissue only stored lipids. However, new research has found fat tissue also secretes hormones. And it is also known; a failure in the adrenal gland is linked to obesity. Obesity brings on a high secretion of insulin in trying to decrease the unnecessary sugar concentration in the blood. After some time, the obese person will develop a natural resistance to the insulin, which will lead to their body to make more insulin, thus producing a rise in the blood pressure or hypertension. .
Overweight or obese people run a high risk of suffering from hypertension. Even being slightly over weight increases the risk dramatically. Hypertension is diagnosed when a resting person's blood pressure is persistently higher than normal for a long period of time. This increases the strain on blood vessels and can lead to them becoming clogged. People with hypertension are also at risk for coronary artery disease, heart attacks, strokes and kidney disease. .
Hypertension is often hereditary and diet is often a main factor in the development of the disease. Hypertension is often described as the silent killer because symptoms are usually not noticeable until the situation becomes very serious. Factors leading to hypertension in obese people are not completely known. Many believe that eating behavior has a role in obesity.
