            The book Twins" by Christine Thorburn is a novel about two girls, who have very different characters. The book is told in two perspectives: Emma writes into her diary and Kristy sends letters to her friend Alison.
             About the main characters:.
             Emma Ferguson was 15 years old. She, her elder sister Rosie and her younger brother Mike lived with their mother and their grandmother in Glasgow. Emma's parents were divorced two years ago. She liked to listen to classical music like Brahms or Mozart and read very long books. She wore long shirts and a skirt. Emma loved all cats but most her cat Pitch.
             Kristy McDonald was also 15 years old. She had an elder brother Peter and they lived with their father in Kames. Mr. McDonald was a widower because his wife had died of cancer. Kristy was taller than Emma, had red-gold hair and a white skin. Most of the time she talked about her boyfriends with their expensive cars and horses. Kristy liked discos und dancing. She was a fan of Heavy Metal und Rock. Kristy wore mini skirts, jeans with holes and a punk hair style. She loved dogs and said she was allergic to cats.
             Jackie Ferguson (Emma's mum) and Jim McDonald (Kristy's dad) decided to marry a second time. So Emma, her sister Rosie and her brother Mike had to live together with Kristy and her brother Peter. All the Ferguson kids liked their stepfather and the McDonald kids liked their stepmother too. The problem was that Emma and Kristy had to share a room and the others had an own room. The two girls had nothing in common only that they were born on the same day. .
