Poligamy Now!

Polygamy is the practice of having many spouses, especially wives, at one time. It is not as common in the United States as it is in other countries, but surprisingly it does occur. The way I was raised was that I was always taught that I should marry one man and live with him for the rest of my life. I always believed that polygamy was immoral and bad. After reading Elizabeth Joseph's speech, "Polygamy Now!," I have completely different views on the issue. Ms. Joseph discussed her life in polygamy. She and the other seven wives obviously love their husband, Alex, which is important in a marriage. The thing that is so amazing about polygamy is how easy their lives seem to be- in regards to cooking, cleaning, and raising children. They work together to make each other happy and less tense. Although she makes polygamy seem so wonderful and positive, I would never marry a man with several wives like Ms. Joseph did, but I do envy the laid back lifestyle that she and her family live.
Elizabeth Joseph is a career woman and a mother. She has to raise her children and be a Utah attorney and journalist at the same time. In her speech she said that polygamy is a feminist's dream-come-true. She explains how she, Margaret, Bo, Joanna, Diana, Leslie, Dawn, and Delinda all cook, clean raise the children together, and they still manage to have special friendships between them. How often do you see a man with several wives who all live together as a family? Not too many. Ms. Joseph believes that polygamy has provided her with an opportunity to use her female potential to the greatest degree without the mutual concessions that go along with monogamy. I believe that she is lucky to have such a great life and anyone who believes otherwise is jealous. .
Ms. Joseph believes that all women should marry the best man that is available whether he is married or not. She was Alex's sixth wife, and she did not hesitate to marry him.
