Current mobile phones have taken the mobile telecommunications device further than ever before. The latest devices including the Nokia 9210 and Siemens SL45i include features that are so advanced many people have yet to work them out. Features include your normal telephony and SMS, but the SMS function has been taken further to provide pictures, ring tones and logos. Many of the phones provide some type of calendar function, the ability to save hundreds of contacts, keyless dialling (speed dial), predictive text input for SMS messaging and games, as some of the simple features. Improved telephones include usually some sort of WAP (wireless application protocol) or internet protocol, voice recognition and dialling, MP3 and data storage the ability to "dock" with your computer to synchronize devices between mobile and pc, and even the ability to write and receive emails.

Since the creation of the transistor in 1940's computers and electronics have taken off at a preposterous rate. The constant battle has been to create the smallest most powerful piece of useful technology to be delivered to an end user. The greatest battle would have to be that of the computer processor. Computers ever since their creation have been trying to find ways of becoming smaller but more powerful. The processor manufacturers of the world have all but squeezed every last bit they can out of the current style of silicon chips and in doing so have created the problem of where to go next to get that edge over rival manufacturers. The interest of where we"re going next is the reason behind choosing this topic.
