Great Gatsby

Great Gatsby Movie to book comparison .

Much like many books made into movies the Great Gatsby fits more then exceptionally well as either one. .
In the movie I strongly enjoyed the cast chosen. Mia Farrow played Daisy very well. She got every point across about Daisy. The part that stood out most about her for me was when she cried in Gatsby's shirt because she hadn't seen such nice shirts. Daren Black plays Jordan Backer precisely the way I imagined her in the book. Pacifically when she's driving with Nick and says that she doesn't need to watch out for other people because they will watch out for her. Robert Redford played Gatsby exquisitely. He played the part different from the way I imagined it. I imagined more shy person more depressed. I do prefer the way the Redford portrayed Gatsby to the way I had imagined him. Sam Waterston played Nick exactly the way I would have portrayed him, he was perfect for the part. Lois Chiles much like Robert Redford played her character different from the way I had portrayed her. She just seemed too much like Daisy. Bruce Dern played Tom to a point that is indifferent from the book and my imagination right down to the mustache. .
Gatsby's house in itself was a character in the movie. In the movie the hose was exactly the way the book described it. With it's elaborate detail, elevators, and huge rooms with high sealing levels. It seemed more fitting to be called a palace then a house. There where very few things missing that I really thought caught my attention enough to be bothersome. Things like I didn't think Mire Wolfshime would be so cheery. I expected him to be more like a mobster, like Al Capone, more mafia. .
