Smokers

Smokers in today's society are well aware that cigarettes are one of the most addictive and destructive over the counter drugs known to man. They also know that their chance's of getting lung disease and cancer is almost doubled with the use of tobacco. Within tobacco there is a substance called nicotine which is a highly addictive drug. Most smokers fall victim to this drug and feel that there is no way out. What a lot of smokers do not know is that there are many programs as well as people out there that are willing to help. For instance, following this five day quitting plan will help smokers a great deal with the task of quitting smoking. .
On the first day of quitting the smoker should plan to retire a bit earlier than usual. This will give the nerves as well as the body a good rest for the days to come. Before going to bed, the smoker should go for a short walk or practice deep breathing. They should also be advised to have a warm shower or drink. This enables the body to be put into a relaxed state, which in turn is the key to quitting smoking. Smoking relaxes the nerves in the same way that a warm shower or drink would. This is a substitution for a cigarette.
On the second day when awakening, the smoker should rub his or her body with a cold washcloth. This takes the urge to smoke away by focusing the mind on other things besides cigarettes. For breakfast consuming fruit, vegetables, and whole grain cereal is essential. A great feeling body makes way for greater will power. Avoid drinking tea or coffee, but if a must, drink herbal tea which is great for the nerves. As the day progresses and cravings begin, chew on a piece of gum. Again this takes the mind off smoking and focuses it on something different. If tension increases, drink a large glass of water or fruit juice. Deep dynamic breathing at every opportunity will also help those tense nerves. Most importantly, on the second day, stay away from friends who smoke.
