Hamlet was mad

In the book Hamlet, by Shakespeare, there are many questions left open to the readers" interpretation. One of these questions is weather or not Hamlet is truly mad or just acts mad throughout the book. Although it can be argued both ways, it is probable the both occurred. Hamlet may have started out acting mad, but in the end he did not have control over it and he went mad. .
Near the beginning of the book, Hamlet says to his friends that he might start to act strangely and for them not to say anything. Hamlet's plan is to act such a manner that allows him to seek revenge and kill the King, his uncle. Hamlets Uncle married his mom and this may have contributed to Hamlet being angry and maybe even angry enough to make Hamlet act insanely. .
Another question that is left open is about the ghost. Hamlet is the only can hear the ghost, and it might just be because he is insane. In one scene when he is talking to his mom, the ghost appears, but the Queen cannot see it. This could be due to ghost superstitions, like the ghost didn't want to be seen by the queen or it can only be seen by certain people, etc. but this still contributes to the question of weather Hamlet is sane or not. In this scene, it is probable that he has flipped his lid, because normally other people can see the ghost and the ghost chooses not to talk, and in this scene the ghost cannot be seen by anybody except for Hamlet. This means that the Hamlet is most likely insane. .
When emotions are running as high as they are throughout the book, it would be hard not to be mad. His uncle murders hamlet's father, his love life is screwed up with Ophelia and the person that killed his father is married to his mother. So the one person he hates more than anything else is married to his mother for whom he cares about. It would have to be very frustrating and good very easily cause a person to go mad. Not to mention the fact Hamlet contemplates suicide, and anybody that thinks about suicide seriously is not in the right mind.
