             shadows she would say she was walking the dog, but instead enjoyed going to the " same place, sit on .
             the same log, and look over at the big house, hoping that the figure would come out again". The Author .
             would then see the old women "crooking her arms at the elbows" and with " her arched back" dance .
             into the moonlight as if no one was watching. As one, the old lady and the author shared the same .
             passion for lonliness. The author's daughter complained that the garden was more precious than her .
             and the old lady had indeed lost her daughter as well. Although they were living in different worlds they .
             shared the same fate of solitude. They both caressed the dark and revelled in time spent apart from .
             others. .
