While Reverend Parris is outside reciting Psalms, Betty suddenly yells out. Reverend Parris returns to her and realizes that she can no longer bear to hear the name of the Lord. .
             The next people to enter Reverend Parris" home is Giles Corey and his wife Rebecca Nurse. Rebecca is a well respected nurse who delivered the seven deceased children of Mrs. Putnam. Mrs. Putnam believes that Rebecca is the responsible for the death of those children. Before Proctor leaves, Reverend Parris confronts him about not attending church lately, Proctors fires back at the Reverend by accusing him of being to obsessed with damnation and also says that he never seems to mention the Lord. .
             Reverend John Hale questions Abigail and Tituba about the night they were in the forest. Before the questioning of the two women, Giles Corey asked Reverend Hale about his wife's reading habits and if that has any significance. But Hale turns his attention to the two women, Abigail says that Tituba made Betty and her drink blood and that Tituba sends her spirit out. Mr. Putnam then says that Tituba must been hanged for practicing witchcraft, realizing that the only way to save herself was to confess, Tituba does just that. Tituba claims that the evil promised to send her back to her home, Barbados. She then goes on to accuse other people of witchcraft, Sarah Good and Sarah Osborn, these girls soon join in and accuse others of witchcraft. .
             The second half of the play picks up after two weeks of in the home of John and Elizabeth Proctors. Their servant, Mary Warren, returns home, after she was forbidden to leave saying that she is now apart of a jury for the witchcraft trails, she then gives Elizabeth and puppet she made while in the courthouse. She goes on to explain that she must go tomorrow, John Proctors begins to run after her, because of her disobedience, and Mary yells out that she saved Elizabeth from being accused of witchcraft.
