Global Poverty due to Developm

S., it's a small piece of the whole issue of global poverty. .
According to John H. Bodley, "Development, as it has been practiced throughout most of the 20th century has systematically undermined the self-maintenance abilities of domestic-scale peasant communities, leaving them highly vulnerable to outside exploitation." (Bodley pg. 362) Development is a complex subject especially at the global level it encompasses the horrible flow of resources, costs and benefits, and at that level, development often works against the interests of domestic-scale communities. The idea behind external development and the justification for it was that development would eventually raise rural standards of living. However, the result of past decades of development shows that a large amount of rethinking of the entire issue is needed to move past barriers to achieve progress outside local communities.
Moreover, development causes many problems that job dependant people in the impoverished world face. For instance, these people must deal with low wages, underemployment, malnutrition, high infant mortality and wretched living conditions at a vast scale. The commercial scale culture that these people live in is the cause of their impoverishment. According to Bodley, "The harshest reality is that when the commercialization and financialization process dominate the sapienization process, children my be deprived of food, their most urgent human need. By contrast, domestic- scale cultures placed human needs first and guaranteed food security to everyone" (Bodley pg. 363). The kind of global development that undermines the unique strength of domestic-scale may have the ability to leave urban and rural communities impoverished. .
Because of global development, economic inequality has increased. Indeed it does matter that the rich are getting richer and the poor, poorer. According to the National Catholic Reporter, this kind of off-balance set up is a " stimulating factor that contains the seed of anger, rebellion, and destruction" (Leone pg 41).
