             Throughout the past 50 years communication has highly evolved. Without the advancements that have taken place who knows what the world would be like now. A huge upgrade happened in 1950 when the first color television was introduced. Also in 1950 the Vidicon camera tube which improved television picture was invented. Color television was a huge improvement from black and white. It gave people a better perspective of what they were watching. Before this time everything was in black and white, no color what so ever. .
             In 1951 there were one and a half million TV sets in the United States. This was a huge jump in one year. More and more people were buying televisions because of the improvement from black and white to color. Computers were first sold commercially in 1951 as well. This was probably one of the biggest inventions in years, until Internet came about. .
             In 1954 the U.S.S.R launched Sputnik. This marked the start of the space age. This launch changed how people thought of earth and started thinking about the other planets. 1954 was a big year in improvements in communications. Color TV broadcasts began. Now people could get the news from just watching TV. Sporting events also began being broadcasted. People were now able to watch a game in the comfort of their own home. Another interesting fact in 1954 is that the amount of radio sets in the world now outnumbered the number of daily newspapers. Many people were now listening to the news from the radio than going out and having to buy a newspaper. .
             In 1955 music was recorded onto a tape. This upgrade in communication lead to eventually CD's and later mp3s. In 1956 the first videotape recorder was built, and in 1958 the videotape delivered color. Also in 1958 cable began to carry FM radio stations. Now that there were FM stations people could listen to the radio more clearly than before. .
             1959 was a big year in the progression of communication.
