Cohabitation

            Cohabitation means 'two unmarried people of the opposite sex living together'. Since traditional custom has changed a lot, man and woman living together before marriage is becoming common these days. On the one hand, it benefits both man and woman by reducing living expenditures. But there are much more problems than the beneficial side it offers. .
             Some cohabiting couple live together because of economic reason. But there are couples who live together just because they feel affection to each other and they want to be together. This relation can be regarded just as 'sexual relation'. It's also a superficial relationship in that they don't regard each other's personal situation such as financial problems. Many say that cohabitation isn't bad because it can reduce divorce rate. These people regard cohabitation as 'trial marriage'. But the problem occurs because it doesn't have any lasting commitments or responsibilities. They usually don't get approval -which is marriage- from their parents. So they feel that they can break up whenever they want and therefore they seldom feel responsibility toward each other. This situation gets worse when the woman gets pregnant. If the case is worst- when the man doesn't want to be married - there can be problems producing unmarried mothers which is a serious issue nowadays. .
             More problems are likely to appear because generally cohabitation isn't based on equality of man and woman's position. Many researches represent that more men agree to cohabitation. They think that they will get profits because women do houseworks such as laundry or cook for them. It's more beneficial to men than to women. .
             Some moral problems may also occur. Although traditional custom has changed a lot these days, many people still think that living together before marriage isn't a right way. It can also make the sense of 'sacred marriage' become impure. The idea that marriage is 'living together because one needs another for they can get benefit' becomes common and the relationship between people may become superficial.
