Teaching Old Dogs new Tricks

            
             The transition from old to new technologies. Many adults in the world today struggle with the way things are advancing in design and capability. It seems The technologies that are in the world today are foreign objects to older generations.
             About a year and a half ago, my grandpa and grandma decided that they were going to get a computer. They sat down with my dad and started planning what they wanted their computer to do. They were absolutely oblivious to what every thing was and the options that were available. My grandparents were so scared of the new technology all they heard were horror stories. Like my grandma thought that all you got when you had email was a bunch of dirt pictures and junk mail, she never thought that she would use it. My grandpa thought it was some sort of electronic monster. He had no idea what to think of it. They were both kind of down right frightened. After a while, they finally had every thing worked out the way they wanted, so they ordered it and waited for it to arrive.
             After about a week it finally arrived so my dad and I went over to their house to help them set it up. When we showed up it looked like my grandpa had already tried to start putting it together. He had managed to wrap himself so tight with all the wires that he had no idea what was going where. We finally got every thing untangled and tied and put back into order and their computer was finally up and running. My dad gave them a simple lesson and we left to go home. .
             They have now had their computer for a year and a half and they have found it quit easy to use now days. I get any where from 2-3 e-mails a day; most of which always contain at least one sort of dirty joke from my grandpa. While my grandma sends me those annoying chain letters that say you"re going to hell if you don't send this 18 times in 18 days or some sort of nonsense like that. I can't even get on the computer at home any more with out them Instant Messaging me and wanting to talk.
