So it is deeply influenced by the cultural and linguistic differences with in India. The hierarchical caste system that the Hindus followed also meant there was no actual cohesion between themselves in actually putting up a resistance against the Central Asian Conquerors or The Imperial Powers. The Mahasaba members envisioned a Hindu nation epitomized by the rule of Lord Rama (to set up a mythological kingdom). The Sangh Parivar was set up to make this a reality. Lost Hindu pride is a very strong feature through out. This meant that they took a very anti foreign position. Muslims and Chrisitians in India are also not a part of their kingdom.
             When Gandhi agreed to separate India it came as a huge blow to The Hindu fundamentalists pride. One of the supporters of the Mahasaba, Naturam Godse assassinated Gandhi. The outcry that followed lead to the dormancy of The Parivar for almost 4 decades. .
             The corrupt ways of the ruling Congress party and a general increase in nationalistic feelings in the early and mid 80's saw a revival of the Parivar. Today India is governed by The BJP. There has been rampant use of propaganda and methods of persuasion by these fundamentals comparable to the ones used by the Nazis in a bygone era. They have managed to reintroduce astrology into universities and the military is wasting resources trying to develop weapons based on literal readings of ancient Hindu texts!.

             Q. How do you see your victory?.
             A. It is a vote for nationalism. It is a vote against Congress" Fatwa politics. It is also a slap on the face of pseudo-secularists who have emerged as the Congress" biggest allies. We fought against the combined strength of the Congress and the pseudo -secularists. But in the end their falsehoods have been publicly exposed.
