A Tale of Two Choices

The advantage of one product over another is a difficult thing to do. One of my favorite things to shop for or to play with is home audio equipment. One of the easiest products to discuss the advantages of is speakers for home surround sound. The two choices or products in discussion are satellite speaker systems and floor-standing or bookshelf systems. While both have many advantages and disadvantages, it's more of a personal opinion.
For starters, satellite speaker systems are the most popular type of surround system. The main reason for this is price. They are the most inexpensive and easiest to use system on the market. Both of these factors make satellite systems perfect for consumers looking for an entry-level system. Another advantage of the satellite system is that they are easy to conceal. Most people do not want to have gargantuan speaker sitting in the middle of their living room. All of these factors such as: price, size, and compatibility make satellite speakers a very acceptable form of home theater.
On the contrary, the other option is floor-standing or bookshelf surround systems. Floor-standing or bookshelf systems better known, as "big" systems are the inverse of satellite systems. These "big" systems are very pricey and are often very big in size. The gain of these big systems is that they have a remarkable sound. Their sound seems more powerful and abundant making these big systems the choice of high-end consumers and stereo connoisseurs. The systems require more knowledge to use and take up tons of space as compared to satellite systems but their sound is not comparable to anything else in the industry.
My personal preference is the "big" systems. I like powerful sound that has phenomenal quality and depth. I have no preference on size and little on price but quality is my main priority in a surround sound system. While the satellite systems are a great option when space is limited, I think that when the bigger systems can be used they should be used.
