radar

First, let's clarify the term "Radar. Searching an object's signal and determining its exact location. Radar works by transmitting radio pulses and listening for an echo. That echo then can give distance of an object, rate of speed, and exact location. That is the simplest definition of Radar. But in all actually, Radar is more than just hearing the radio type echo. A radar set, also called a radar system, has four main parts, transmitter, and antenna, a receiver, and a indicator.
Being in the Military, we use many types of radar. We classify our systems based on the types of information or data we want to gather. We have the Air-Search Radar Systems whose function is to maintain surveillance from the ground to high altitudes. They detect targets over larger areas of land or space. Then we have Multi-Dimensional Radar Systems which we use to compute accurate ranges, bearings, and altitudes of selected targets. Additionally there is Missile Guidance Radar Systems. Their sole purpose is to direct weapons to a target that intercepts incoming attacks. We use those to determine whether or not the target takes deliberate evasive action. Those types of radars has come in handy for places like Iraq. Those are basically your tracking radar, which is the military's most common along with jamming radar which is used to distort signals to other radar sites. We also have radar systems in airports. Those type systems are set up in Air Traffic Control towers to detect oncoming air traffic and patterns. They are commonly refered to as surface movement radar. The radar sets, carried on a ships pick up signals from other ships to prevent accidents and navigate the route. Those type of radar are vessel traffic system radar. Various home and commercial alarm companies use various radar as well to detect intrusion alerts and other object movement. But for my paper, I want to stick with something familiar, use of military radar and how they work .
