Eveline

What would influence Eveline to leave her father behind after losing her mother? "Insecurity", you would think but a rough, abusive and scary household explains it all. Eveline's household is really screwed up now, considering her mom's passing leaving nothing but words of wisdom, an abusive husband, and a tough decision. Eveline really at this point can't decide wiether or not to leave or stay at home. Even though Eveline really never got out the house due to her little siblings and chores, she still happened to meet a man by the name of Frank who happened to steal her heart. Eveline raved and bickered a lot about how sensitive and kind Frank was to her. Maybe Eveline wasn't getting enough love and support from her father, but to pour emotions into someone like that says a lot. Right now Eveline could only hope this is a dream come true for her, to hear how Frank cares so much for her and how he wants to take her away with him to a better life. Having been through abusive situations by her father, Eveline makes the right decision by staying with her family rather than leaving with frank.
The problems that Eveline had faced in her house made her decision to leave with Frank very questionable. You see Eveline just wanted to be treated normal by her father, but because of his violent nature, didn't make her think twice about leaving with Frank. So when her mother passed away with this dying wish and promise for her to keep up on the house, and to take care of her dad, Eveline put this in the back of her head and thought about it. By Eveline promising this to her mother, she feels that this is one of her main duties if life. In Eveline's defense, staying at home with her father and little siblings was the best thing for her.
Eveline I feel made the right decision in staying home with her father. First of all Eveline really loves her father, but because of his behavior feels insecure of his ways.
