Duel of Fools

Duel of Fools ended up being little more than just a laughing riot. This is an improvisational performance that is held at the Sak Comedy Club. Professionals take turns, in groups of threes, to perform different styles of improv. Because of the audience involvement, this makes for some entertaining events. Ideas were being thrown from left and right; each zanier than the previous. The actors and actress must then make up the skits on the fly, while incorporating what the audience suggests.
Normally one might not say anything negative about the production of these plays, since they are improv. The particular night that I attended however, the lighting and effects guy happened to be way off. There were times during the night when the lighting was just plain terrible and too dark. Other times the light would be shining on a particular person when it was supposed to be shining elsewhere. Luckily however, the lighting person was the only person to leave his A-game at home.
The improv actors did an absolutely wonderful job. One can really tell the difference between them and the student actors of the same kind. They seemed to be always on topic and flow very seamlessly as if they were all thinking with the same brain. Some of the time one might think that they were performing an act they had previously made up. This was impossible however, due to the crowds suggestions. .
